I was emailing with a photographer a few days ago and he joked that models are all so neurotic and just plain nuts. And I agree that I am totally nuts but isn't that what makes models so interesting in the first place?
I mean sure that pretty girl in the pretty clothes in the fashion catalog is pretty, but is it interesting? Or is it just pretty? I get that those photographs have a purpose, to sell something and they do a very good job. But we all respond to photographs that stir something in us. Photographs that tell a story or make us think, intrigue us, bring forth some form of emotional response. But perhaps that's just the nutty artist in me being bias because I'm nuts and I find people immensely interesting and fascinating.
So are we more neurotic and nuts because we're models? Or are neurotic people more likely to become models? Or perhaps we're just perceived as being more neurotic and nuts because to pose for the camera requires us to let some of those feelings, expressions, and hidden parts of ourselves out because it photographs well.
